City Year

The new Regional Recruitment Manager from City Year, Bert Rivera, visited Career Services to tell us all about the opportunities at City Year. For those of you who are unfamiliar, City Year is an education focused, nonprofit organization that unites young people (corps members) of all backgrounds for a 10 month service to keep students in school and on track to graduation. As tutors, mentors and role models corps members help students and schools through academic support, attendance and positive behavior encouragement, and community and school improvements.

This is a great opportunity for students interested in teaching or who just want to give 10 months of service. City Year recruits students from any major or discipline and you don't need any teaching experience to apply. Bert will be on campus the following times this quarter to answer your questions and to let you know more about City Year:
  • Monday, October 8th from 4:00-5:30 for an Information Session (located at Career Services, Room 1109)
  • Tuesday, October 9th from 11:00- 2:00 tabling in front of the UCEN
  • Wednesday, October 10th from 2:00-4:00 at Resume+ and then from 4:00pm-5:30pm presenting "How to work a career fair" (located at Career Services, Room 1109)
